Who We Are
OPTIONS is a local, non-profit agency established in 1973 by parents looking for community based services for their children with disabilities.
Although we were founded in 1973, we continue to evolve, responding to the current needs of the people we serve in our community.
We have a variety of opportunities at OPTIONS to best serve the individual needs of each person. For more information, or to schedule a tour, contact us at 985-345-6269.
OPTIONS helps people with disabilities live and work in the community.
OPTIONS will continue as the premier provider of opportunities, enabling people with disabilities to be valued, respected, integral members of the community.
OPTIONS exists to provide people with developmental disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, epilepsy and spina bifida with meaningful, daily activities that help them to live and work in the community, build self-esteem and enjoy life.
Leadership for OPTIONS is provided by a volunteer board of directors consisting of people with disabilities, family members, and community leaders from a variety of professions.
OPTIONS helps people with disabilities reach their employment goals. OPTIONS has a variety of entry-level job opportunities within the agency. In addition, OPTIONS helps participants find jobs in the community, while supporting them and assisting with training.
OPTIONS provides 24/7 support for many participants. We have 4 community homes in the Hammond area. OPTIONS also has a Supported Living program, where participants have their own apartments with staff who assist them to be as independent as possible. Participants who live with their family members can also get support in the home.
